A 104-year-old woman says her secret to a long life is all about balance — pairing the healthy with the indulgent.

Elizabeth Milner, born in 1921, celebrated her 104th birthday in December at Care UK’s Kentford Manor in Newmarket, Suffolk, where she lives.

Surrounded by loved ones, Milner told the BBC, “Spending the day with my whole family and enjoying a lovely afternoon tea party with plenty of bubbles made it especially memorable.”

Asked what she credits for her long life, Milner said she believes her daily choices play a role — especially the way she mixes nutritious foods with treats.

Her go-to combination? “Veggies and chocolate,” Milner told the BBC.

Milner was born more than a century ago in Dundee, Scotland, according to the BBC. Later, she married Alfred in 1944, and the couple went on to have two children, the outlet reported.

At Kentford Manor, Milner still keeps busy with hobbies she enjoys, including baking, knitting, and tapestry-making, per the BBC.

Hannah Nurse, the manager of Care UK’s Kentford Manor, said it was “wonderful” to celebrate Milner’s milestone.

“We were so excited to celebrate such a joyous day with Elizabeth,” she said. “As a much-loved resident at Kentford Manor, it was wonderful to mark this tremendous milestone with her and her family.”
