Rapper 50 Cent isn’t impressed with NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s plan to tax the rich — and he’s offering cold hard cash to send the Democratic socialist packing.

In a fiery Instagram post on Wednesday, 50 Cent — whose real name is Curtis Jackson — blasted Mamdani over his comments during a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast, where the candidate pitched a tax hike targeting wealthy New Yorkers and businesses.

“Where did he come from? Whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan. No,” the Queens-born rapper wrote.
“I will give him $258,750 and a first-class one-way ticket away from NY.”

Mamdani’s Tax Plan Sparks Celebrity Backlash

Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary for mayor earlier this week by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo, outlined his vision during a June 11 podcast appearance. His proposal includes a 2% tax increase on the top 1% of earners and higher taxes on corporate profits.

“We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more,” Mamdani explained.
“I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this… but I want to be very clear — this is about $20,000 a year.”

Mamdani’s reference to the Grammy-winning artist didn’t go unnoticed.

“I’m telling Trump what he said too!” 50 Cent added in his post, tagging it with a “thinking” emoji.

From Politics to Pop Culture

50 Cent, who has an estimated net worth close to $1 billion, has been outspoken on political issues before — often clashing with progressive policies he says hurt successful entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, Mamdani has been both praised and criticized for his bold, left-wing platform. Along with his tax plan, he’s calling for improved public transit, more support for small businesses, and efforts to “Trump-proof” New York City.

Critics, including some Democrats, have warned that Mamdani represents a sharp turn toward radical politics in one of the country’s largest cities.

No Response Yet

A spokesperson for Mamdani did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.

Whether or not Mamdani takes 50 Cent up on his offer, one thing’s clear: the rapper is not a fan of being name-dropped by politicians looking to raise his taxes.
