Six teenagers were wounded in an early-morning shooting outside a Brooklyn event space where they had just attended a birthday celebration.

Police responded around 1 a.m. on Dec. 14 to reports of gunfire outside Burbuja Events, according to multiple reports. The teens had been at the venue for a 16th birthday party, CBS News reported, and the celebration ended about 20 minutes before shots were fired.

CBS News said the victims included two 15-year-old girls, a 15-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy.

Local newspaper amNewYork reported that one of the 15-year-old girls was struck in the chest, hip and leg, while the other was wounded in the right leg. The 15-year-old boy was shot in the left arm. One 16-year-old boy was shot in the right arm and the other was hit in the left foot. The 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg.

All six were taken to Brookdale University and Kings County hospitals and were listed in stable condition, amNewYork said.

Police are searching for two male suspects seen leaving the area, described as wearing dark clothing, according to CBS News and amNewYork. The investigation remains ongoing.

Burbuja Events told CBS News in a statement that the venue is cooperating with authorities. “We extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this incident and hope for the swift recovery and safety of all involved,” management said.

Eyewitness Ebony Sanders described the aftermath to amNewYork: “It was a chaotic situation; there were paramedics and police rushing in and bringing people out one by one,” Sanders said. “I’ll say a prayer for everyone involved.”

City Council Member Yusef Salaam said he was “deeply disturbed” by the shooting in a statement on social media.

“My heart is with the victims and their families, and I am relieved they are in stable condition. No young person should ever be harmed in their own neighborhood. We must continue to invest in prevention, youth support, and accountability to keep our communities safe,” he wrote.
