As her time in the House of Representatives nears its end, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene sat down with 60 Minutes for a wide-ranging interview — and quickly showed that her combative streak hasn’t fully faded.

Greene, 51, has recently tried to present a more measured image, calling for Congress to work together “to help the American people.” But during the Sunday, Dec. 7, broadcast with longtime host Lesley Stahl, she bristled when confronted with her history of inflammatory comments toward the press and fellow lawmakers.

In narration over the segment, Stahl, 83, noted that “it became clear to us that she hasn’t entirely lost her appetite for combat,” before the program cut to a tense back-and-forth between the two.

“It’s the most toxic political culture. And it’s not helping the American people,” Greene said of the current climate in Washington.

Stahl pushed back, telling her, “But you contributed to that. You were out there pounding, insulting people.”

Greene immediately turned it around: “Lesley, you’ve contributed to it as well with your own—”

“Me?” Stahl asked, surprised.

“Yes, you’re accusatory, just like you did just then,” Greene replied.

“I know you’re accusing me,” Stahl said with raised eyebrows, “but I’m smiling.”

Greene then offered a broad smile of her own as she answered, “You’re accusing me,” prompting Stahl to respond simply, “I am accusing you.”

Greene tried to pivot away from the confrontation. “But we don’t have to accuse one another,” she said, though Stahl continued pressing her to address her past behavior.

“I want you to respond to what you have done in terms of insulting people, yelling at people, and then saying—” Stahl began, as Greene cut in: “I’d like for you to respond for that.”

When Stahl attempted to continue, Greene repeated, “No, you can respond to that.” Stahl answered, “I don’t insult people,” but Greene disagreed: “You do in the way you question, and you’re accusing me right now.”

Later in the interview, Stahl asked Greene how Republicans currently view President Donald Trump. Once one of Trump’s most ardent defenders, Greene has more recently clashed with him over the release of the Epstein files, leading to a deteriorated relationship.

Asked whether her Republican colleagues are “afraid” of how Trump might react if they step out of line, Greene said some are “terrified to step out of line and get a nasty Truth Social post on them.”

Pressed on whether Republicans behave differently “behind the scenes,” Greene didn’t hesitate. “Yes … oh, it would shock people,” she said.

She elaborated, “I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started — excuse my language, Lesley — kissing his ass, and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time.”

Greene announced on Nov. 21 that she will step down as the representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district in 2026. In a video statement posted to her X account, she said her final day in Congress will be Jan. 5, 2026.

She cited political gridlock and entrenched partisanship as major obstacles to her legislative goals, and claimed that Trump “tried to destroy me.”

Trump fired back yet again after the 60 Minutes segment aired. In a Truth Social post on Monday, Dec. 8 — the day after the interview — he lashed out at Greene, calling her a “traitor,” a “Rotten Apple” and a “very dumb person.”
