A 911 dispatcher, appearing to reference the alleged assault involving former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, said a caller reported that a man had been “stalking her for months.”
In the recording, the dispatcher says a woman called claiming that a “male was at the location in the house attacking her” and that she alleged the man had “been stalking her for months.”
Moore is not named in the audio, but the dispatcher’s conversation occurs at around 4:14 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 — shortly before Moore was arrested. The dispatcher also mentions an address on the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Road, which authorities have identified as the location of the incident involving Moore.
Moore was fired as head football coach “for cause” by the University of Michigan after the school said it found “credible evidence” that he had “engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
ESPN reported, citing authorities in Saline, Mich., that Moore was detained and “turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation.”
In a statement that did not name Moore, police in Pittsfield Township said a suspect was taken into custody after officers responded to an “alleged assault” on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Police later said the suspect was expected to appear in court for an arraignment on Friday, Dec. 12, but did not specify any charges.
Dan Wetzel of ESPN reported that the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office said a charging decision was not expected on Thursday.
“The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today,” the prosecutor’s office told Wetzel. “Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail.”
According to Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, Moore’s firing was effective immediately. Associate coach Biff Poggi has been appointed interim head coach.
