An Ohio woman has been indicted and arrested in connection with the death of her boyfriend, whose body was discovered in the Huron River months after he was reported missing.

Dy’Mond Vaden, 32, faces multiple charges including two counts each of murder and felonious assault, along with charges for tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and possessing a firearm while under disability. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the indictment was handed down after an investigation linked Vaden to the killing of 32-year-old George Cox Jr.

Cox was reported missing by his family on November 8, 2024, after last being heard from around October 19. When Cleveland police conducted a welfare check at the residence the couple shared near Bosworth Road and Peony Avenue, they found the apartment nearly empty—with what appeared to be blood on the floor. Forensic testing later confirmed it was Cox’s blood, and Vaden had since moved out.

Months later, on May 15, 2025, kayakers on a shallow part of the Huron River in Erie County discovered a body wrapped in a fitted bed sheet and bound with what investigators described as “marine-style rope.” The body was identified as Cox.

Authorities soon determined the bed sheet used to wrap the body matched sheets found at the couple’s former residence. Blood found on clothing from Vaden’s new home also matched Cox’s, and investigators say phone records and additional DNA evidence further tied Vaden to the crime.

On July 21, Vaden was located and arrested at a new address she shared with 41-year-old Emmanuel McQueen Jr. Police say they recovered a firearm at the scene. McQueen was also indicted on one count of having a weapon under disability.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley praised the work of detectives: “George Cox Jr.’s family has waited for answers, and today they are one step closer to justice. Fortunately for his family and the State of Ohio, CDP homicide detectives are well-trained and smarter than Dy’Mond Vaden thinks.”

Cox’s cause of death has not yet been made public. Court proceedings for Vaden have not been scheduled at this time.
