Jeremy Albert Best, the Idaho man who brutally killed his pregnant wife, their unborn child, and their 10-month-old son in November 2023, has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Best, now 50, pleaded guilty in February to the triple murder in exchange for avoiding the death penalty. His sentencing took place last Thursday, with local outlets including ABC 8, CBS 2, and Jackson Hole Radio reporting that Best offered an apology to both his and his wife’s families during the hearing.
According to investigators, Best fatally shot his wife, 38-year-old Kali Jean Randall, from behind in their Victor, Idaho home on November 30, 2023. She was pregnant at the time. He then fled the scene with their infant son, Zeke.
A two-day search followed. The case took a chilling turn when a group of hunters discovered Best wandering naked in the snow near a rural highway, speaking incoherently. Baby Zeke was found dead nearby. The shocking discovery brought a tragic end to a manhunt that had gripped the region.

“This was the justice we hoped for,” said Teton County Prosecuting Attorney Bailey Smith Baker, according to Jackson Hole Radio. “We are pleased that the Court gave a life sentence for each victim.”
Authorities were initially alerted to the crime after receiving a brief 911 call from the couple’s home, during which a woman could be heard screaming, “Jeremy! Jeremy, no!” before the call abruptly disconnected.
Randall’s family has described the loss as “unimaginable.” Following Best’s arrest in December 2023, they released a statement expressing their grief and disbelief.

Her brother, Brian Randall, told PEOPLE that Kali was “a genuine beautiful soul” and said the family never suspected anything troubling in her relationship with Best. “Sometimes maybe you don’t know people,” he reflected.
The couple met in 2009 and married in September 2022, according to social media posts. Kali was an artist and jewelry maker who had previously worked as a veterinary technician.
Best’s life sentence ensures he will spend the rest of his life behind bars with no chance of release.
