Plane Crashes Into Home Next to Middle School, Leaving 2 Injured

A small plane crashed into the roof of a home in Cashmere, Washington, on Wednesday, July 30, according to a news release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.

The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 182Q Skylane, went down around 5:30 p.m. while in flight near the Cashmere airport. The home it struck is located near Tigner Road and Pioneer Avenue, directly beside Cashmere Middle School.

Two people aboard the four-seater plane were taken to Confluence Health Hospital. As of Thursday, July 31, both were reported to be in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported among the home’s residents.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board are all involved in the ongoing inquiry.

Representatives from the FAA and NTSB did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Thursday.
