Ghislaine Maxwell, serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, has been moved to a prison camp in Texas. The transfer has sparked new questions about her past connections with Jeffrey Epstein — and possible links to President Donald Trump.
Haley Robson, a survivor of Epstein’s abuse, told CNN that pardoning Maxwell would be a “huge mistake.” She said Maxwell has “nothing to say” and that her claims are “dishonest.”
Earlier this month, in a Newsmax interview, President Trump said he had not been asked to pardon Maxwell. When asked if he could do it in exchange for her testimony, he said, “I’m allowed to do it.”
Maxwell was quietly moved last month from a Florida federal jail to Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas. In July, she met twice with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Tallahassee, Florida. Around the same time, House Judiciary Committee Democrats launched an investigation into the move, claiming it could be an attempt to hide the full extent of the Trump-Epstein relationship.
Maxwell’s Net Worth
Ghislaine Maxwell grew up in wealth as the daughter of publishing mogul Robert Maxwell. However, her finances have long been described as “unclear” in court.
A judge once called her a “flight risk” and said she had access to secret funds. Reports say she received over $20 million from offshore accounts controlled by Epstein between 2007 and 2011. This included profits from selling expensive properties, like a New York townhouse worth about $15 million.
Even though her father’s fortune was once estimated at $1.9 billion, much of it was lost after his business empire collapsed in 1991.
When she was arrested in 2020, Maxwell claimed her net worth was between $3.5 and $4 million. But a forensic accountant told the court she may actually have around $20 million, much of it tied to her alleged secret husband, Scott Borgerson.
Who Is Scott Borgerson?
Borgerson is reportedly a tech entrepreneur and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Court documents revealed that Maxwell and Borgerson together once claimed $22.5 million in assets. In 2020, prosecutors said Maxwell used her spouse’s name to buy a $1 million home in New Hampshire through a limited liability company (LLC), keeping the buyer’s identity hidden.
Borgerson is also believed to have put a $7 million Massachusetts mansion up for sale to help pay Maxwell’s legal bills. While they have been linked romantically, neither has publicly confirmed a legal marriage.
