First Lady Melania Trump is taking action against Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, over remarks he made about her in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein files.
According to Fox News, Melania claims Hunter made “false, defamatory, and inflammatory” statements during a recent interview. Her lawyer, Alejandro Brito, sent Hunter and his attorney, Abbe Lowell, a legal notice earlier this month demanding $1 billion in damages.
The notice also demands that Hunter immediately take down his comments, issue a public apology, and retract his statements — or face a lawsuit.
The dispute stems from Hunter’s interview on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, where he claimed Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump. He said, “The connections are wide and deep,” and repeated that Epstein was responsible for them meeting.
Melania’s lawyer strongly denied the claim, calling it false and damaging. He said the statements have been shared widely online, reaching tens of millions of people, and have caused serious harm to her reputation.
Brito also said Hunter’s comments appeared to be based on an earlier claim by author Michael Wolff in The Daily Beast. In that interview, Wolff suggested Melania was introduced to Trump through people connected to Epstein — a statement Melania’s team insists is untrue.
So far, neither Hunter Biden nor Melania Trump has commented publicly on the legal threat.
