An Ohio man found a “corny” but unforgettable way to propose.

Farmer Tim Sullivan asked his girlfriend, Caroline Liggett, to marry him with a giant message hidden inside a 13-acre corn maze. The maze spelled out the words: “Will You Marry Me, Caroline?”

According to a Facebook post by Circle S Farms, the Ohio family farm that hosted the design reveal on Aug. 5, the proposal worked perfectly — and Liggett said “Yes!”

“I wanted to do something big, something she’d never forget,” Sullivan told ABC6. “Seeing her face when she realized what it said — I’ll never forget that moment.”

The maze even included three pumpkin designs.

Sullivan explained to The Columbus Dispatch that he and other workers planted the field on June 3 using a computerized tractor. By the end of that month, the hidden words were already visible from above.

He admitted he was “super nervous” someone might fly over the maze and share a photo on social media, ruining the surprise. But that didn’t happen. With the engagement ring in his pocket, Sullivan convinced Liggett to take a flight over the farm by pretending he wanted to learn about flying.

At first, Liggett didn’t notice the message, but on the second pass she spotted it. That’s when she happily said yes.

“I was just so amazed that somebody put that much effort and planning into a proposal like that,” Liggett told local news. “I knew he’d do something special, but I never expected something this big.”

The couple also share a fun rivalry. Sullivan works for Corteva Agriscience, while Liggett works for WinField United. She said it was “only fitting that our proposal would happen with the cornfield.”

The corn maze will be open to the public this fall at Circle S Farms, where visitors can explore the rows and see the romantic design.

On Facebook, the farm shared: “See you soon for a season full of fun, memories, and a little extra love in the air!”

Sullivan and Liggett plan to get married in early summer 2026.
