Millions of AT&T customers may be able to claim money from a $177 million legal settlement after two major data breaches. Some people could receive as much as $7,500 each.
The first data breach, reported in March 2024, exposed the personal information of about 73 million current and former AT&T customers. This included sensitive details like birth dates and Social Security numbers, which were later found on the dark web.
The second data breach, reported in July 2024, revealed call and text records from “nearly all” AT&T cell phone users.
Because of these incidents, several lawsuits were filed across the U.S. The cases were combined into two large class-action lawsuits.
On Aug. 4, 2025, AT&T’s settlement administrator announced that a proposed $177 million deal had been reached. Of that, $149 million would go to people affected by the first breach, and $28 million to those impacted by the second.
However, the settlement still needs court approval. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas will hold a final approval hearing on Dec. 3, 2025. Until then, AT&T customers can file claims for compensation.

Who Can File a Claim?
If your data was compromised in either or both breaches, you are eligible.
Notices are being emailed to customers. The emails come from attsettlement@e.emailksa.com, and the settlement administrator is Kroll Settlement Administration.

How to File a Claim
Impacted customers must complete this claim form by Nov. 18, 2025.
Keep in mind: if you file a claim, you give up your right to sue AT&T separately.
How Much Money Could You Get?
- First breach (March 2024): Up to $5,000 for losses from 2019 or later.
- Second breach (July 2024): Up to $2,500 for losses after April 14, 2024.
- Both breaches: Up to $7,500.
To qualify, customers must provide proof that their losses are connected to the AT&T data breaches.
When Will Payments Be Made?
The earliest possible payments would come after the Dec. 3, 2025 hearing—if the court approves the settlement. Even then, appeals or delays could slow things down.
The settlement website also notes: “It takes time for all of the claim forms to be processed. Please be patient.”
