Detroit police are actively searching for Mario Greene, 53, who is accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife Thursday morning at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, according to WXYZ Detroit. Greene was last seen driving a white 2011 Dodge Charger with Michigan license plate DXC7067.

Authorities say Greene fled the scene after the shooting, which prompted a temporary lockdown at the hospital. The lockdown was later lifted, a representative told 7 News Detroit. The hospital is located at 2799 West Grand Boulevard.

Police describe Greene as wearing all black clothing with a gold chain at the time of the attack. Investigators revealed that the victim, believed to be about 40 years old and an employee at the hospital, had requested a personal protection order against Greene just one month earlier.

Police Statement on Mario Greene

Greene, who lives in Bloomfield Hills, is considered armed and dangerous.

“We expect to have him in custody very, very shortly,” Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said.

Patients and staff inside the hospital described the lockdown as terrifying.

“When you’re in a room and they tell you you can’t leave, and if somebody’s shooting, you just don’t know… your life just starts flashing in front of your eyes,” Tasheena Stephens, who was inside during the lockdown, told WXYZ Detroit. “I’m just glad to be out of there, and prayers to her family. That’s horrible. That’s a horrible thing.”

Police say they do not believe there were additional shooting victims. A manhunt is ongoing as officers continue efforts to locate and arrest Greene.
