A groom nearly left his bride waiting at the altar on their wedding day.

One wedding guest shared the “missing groom” incident in a post on Reddit’s Wedding Drama forum. The groom wasn’t just a little late — after “almost an hour,” he still hadn’t arrived, leaving the bride and guests worried that he might skip the ceremony entirely.

“Everyone was whispering, the bride was pacing, and people were starting to panic,” the guest recalled.

Finally, the groom showed up — “sweaty, flustered, and embarrassed.”

He explained that while on the way to the venue, he had accidentally locked both his keys and cellphone in his car at a gas station. Fortunately, he managed to flag down a stranger and borrow their phone to call a locksmith, waiting until help arrived.

“The second the bride saw him, she just burst out laughing and hugged him,” the guest wrote. “She handled it like a champ, and in the end, it just became one more story that made the day unforgettable.”

“It’s now a funny story they tell about how he almost stood her up accidentally,” the Redditor concluded, later adding in a comment: “Some wedding moments are so chaotic they turn into the best memories.”

Fellow Reddit users found the groom’s mishap amusing, though many said they’d be panicked in the same situation.

“All’s well that ends well! I can literally feel the bride’s stress, though😖,” one person wrote, while another added, “I can’t imagine his stress levels. Can you imagine?”
