59-Year-Old Man Arrested in Colorado After Missing Woman’s Remains Were Found in Oregon Storage Unit

A man has been taken into custody after human remains were discovered in Oregon last month.

On Monday, Aug. 25, the City of The Dalles Police Department announced that 59-year-old Richard Michael “Mike” Robinson of The Dalles, Ore., was arrested in Colorado and named as a “person of interest.”

Authorities said the remains of He “Kiki” Meihong were found on July 29 inside a storage box in a unit located on West 6th Street in The Dalles.

Although the police release identified her as 20 years old, a missing person notice issued earlier listed Meihong’s age as 39.

“Human remains were located and transported to the Oregon Medical Examiner’s office in Clackamas for autopsy and identification,” officials stated. They added that Meihong had been living in the Mid-Columbia area and was originally from China. Her family has since been notified.

Meihong was last seen on May 25 in Glenwood, Wash., after her fiancé dropped her off to go fishing with friends, according to the missing person poster. The notice also said that she was living in Butte, Mont., but had been staying with her partner.

“Since the discovery of the remains, detectives have been working collaboratively on leads and following up on tips,” police said in their statement. “A person of interest was developed and follow-up investigation was completed in California, Washington, Utah, Nevada and Colorado.”

Authorities added that Robinson, who had also spent time in Klickitat County, Wash., was arrested on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.

He is currently being held in the Larimer County Jail and is expected to be transferred to Oregon.
