Boyfriend Wonders If He Should Distance Himself from His Girlfriend Because She’s Always Late: ‘She Doesn’t Care’

A man is considering leaving his girlfriend out of social events because he says she is always late.

In a post on Reddit’s “Am I the A——?” forum, the boyfriend explained that her constant tardiness has been frustrating and is starting to hurt their relationship.

“My girlfriend and I have been together for quite a few months, and it’s always irritated me that she’s never on time,” he wrote. “We are always over two hours late from the planned time, and it’s starting to get under my skin.”

He questioned whether her behavior means she isn’t serious about their relationship, writing, “I’m not sure if it’s just her not respecting my punctuality or she doesn’t care.”

The man said he has already confronted her about the issue but nothing has changed. “She swears she’ll be more punctual, yet every time she’s late,” he wrote.

The frustrated boyfriend added that he feels he may have no choice but to stop inviting her out with him. “I have considered starting to do things on my own without her, even though she asks to join,” he said. “Should I?”

Some people responding to his post suggested patience, saying she might eventually grow out of the habit.

Others argued that the problem was more serious. One user said she could be struggling with “time blindness,” or what they called being a “time optimist.”

“She thinks she has more time than she really does,” the commenter explained. “If she can be on time for work, she can do the same when you have a date.”

They also suggested he point out how damaging the habit can be: “This pattern may have already cost her relationships and jobs. She needs to work on changing it. Planning ahead and building better habits could make a difference.”
