A teenager has been arrested after a 12-year-old boy died from falling off playground equipment at a park in England, police said.

Logan Carter died after an incident at the Wharton Recreation Ground in Winsford, Cheshire, on Friday, Aug. 29, at about 6:11 p.m. local time, according to Cheshire Constabulary in a news release on Aug. 31.

Police are investigating whether an e-bike may have been used to spin a merry-go-round at the park, which could have led to Logan’s death, the statement said.

A 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Police confirmed the teen was released under investigation.

A spokesperson said the arrest happened “shortly after the incident occurred.”

“Investigations are ongoing and officers are currently exploring a number of lines of enquiry in order to fully establish the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Cheshire police said.

They added that part of the investigation involves “reports that an e-bike was used to propel a children’s roundabout in the park at around the time of the incident.”

Logan’s family shared a statement through police:
“Logan was a much-loved Son, Brother, Grandson, Great Grandson, Cousin and friend to many. He had an infectious personality and a beautiful smile. Everyone wanted to be where Logan was. He was a little boy who was so full of life and wanted to make everyone laugh.”

The family added, “He made every day worth living. Logan was everyone’s therapy person, their calm and he will be missed more than we can ever put into words. We are taking comfort from the words of support we have received whilst we take time to come to terms with the untimely loss of our blue-eyed boy.”

Logan’s father, Rob Carter, also posted a tribute on Facebook on Saturday, Aug. 30. He wrote, “When I [woke] up on Friday, my little mate, I didn’t think that would be the last time I get to see you. My heart [has] been ripped in two.”

A GoFundMe page created to help the family had raised more than $21,000 as of Tuesday, Sept. 2.
