Spencer Hatcher is thanking his fans for supporting him during a very hard time.

The country singer shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday, Sept. 9, talking to his fans weeks after the murder of his mother, Holly Hatcher, in August.

“I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all the love and support that you all have shown me and my family over the last month,” Spencer, 28, said.

“In what has really been the worst time of our life, you all sent so many loving comments and messages. We did our best to read them, but I just want you all to know how thankful we are.”

“My mom was my biggest fan and my biggest supporter in everything I did,” he said.
“She loved the music. She loved the shows. After a lot of thought, prayer, and talking with my label, I decided I want to keep making music and performing. I know that is what my mom would want me to do.”

Spencer added, “She would want me to keep going, and I know how much she loved it, and I know how much y’all love it.”

“I’m not gonna quit. I’m going to keep going as hard as I can like I always have. I want you all to come with me on this journey,” he said. “I really appreciate everything you’ve done and will continue to do for me.”

Before the tragedy, Spencer had a “pretty big schedule” with tour dates. He plans to continue with those plans. “My mom was really excited about all the music and opportunities. I hope you all are excited too.”

He ended his post by thanking fans again. “I hope that one day we can all be together so I can thank you in person. I love y’all, God bless.”

On Sunday, Aug. 3, Spencer’s mom was stabbed to death in her home in Harrisonburg, Va., by an intruder. The suspect, Kevin Moses Walker, was then shot and killed by Holly’s husband and Spencer’s father, Michael Hatcher, in their driveway.

According to WTVR, Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson called the attack “highly unusual” and said the intruder had no known history of violent or criminal behavior.

“There’s going to be questions that will never be answered, but all I can tell you is we’ve cried, we’ve hurt, and we’ve hugged, and we have found more love than we have ever known,” Michael said in a joint video with his son.

After the murder, Spencer canceled three shows. “I hope to make these dates up to my fans in the future,” he wrote on Instagram. “I appreciate everyone that has supported me and my loved ones. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time.”

According to Spencer’s website, he has a series of performances planned through the end of the year in Houston, Dallas, Savannah, and other cities.
