Authorities in California are asking for the public’s help to find a woman who disappeared during a cross-country road trip that began in Florida.
Ganna Kovrizhynkh, 38, was reported missing on July 12 by a friend, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Family and friends said they last heard from Kovrizhynkh — who also goes by the name Angel Volnaya — on July 5, while she was driving through San Diego County. Soon after, her car and camper trailer were discovered abandoned in Potrero, a rural area of the county.
According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), Kovrizhynkh’s mother received a photo of a handwritten letter with GPS coordinates in Potrero on July 5. The letter included instructions for her mother to take control of her personal belongings. On July 12, investigators found Kovrizhynkh’s Jeep Grand Cherokee and camper trailer left near the 25000 block of Potrero Park Drive.

“We aren’t sure what her destination was,” Sgt. Jacob Klepach told NBC San Diego. “We believe she was touring the country, but she left her vehicle in Potrero and never returned.”
The sheriff’s office said it’s possible Kovrizhynkh may have crossed the U.S.–Mexico border into the Tecate area of Baja California, Mexico.

Authorities shared photos of Kovrizhynkh to help with identification. She is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes, though she may be wearing a wig. Investigators also noted she has several tattoos on her arms and hands.
“We don’t really know if foul play is involved or if she left on her own,” Klepach said.
