A woman says a work friend got upset because she ate the last doughnut at the office, and now she’s asking the internet who is actually in the wrong.

She shared her story on the popular Reddit forum “Am I the A——”, where people ask for advice about tricky situations. In her post, the woman said she recently made a new friend at work.

“She’s been great, and we refer to each other as ‘work sisters,’ ” she added.

The woman explained that her company buys doughnuts from a local bakery every Friday. On the most recent doughnut day, a coworker she calls “Hubert” told her that the doughnuts were “going quick.”

She said she and Hubert grabbed the last two doughnuts, but her “work sister” came by and asked why the OP hadn’t saved her one. The friend also claimed that Hubert had already eaten a doughnut that day.

The OP said she told her coworker she didn’t know Hubert had already had one and that there were only two left when she arrived. Despite her explanation, her friend ignored her for the rest of the day.

“I thought she was being ridiculous until a mutual friend sided with her and said I should have at least asked,” she wrote, asking, “Am I the a——?”

Most Reddit commenters thought the OP’s work friend overreacted.

“NTA [not the a——]. You are not the donut police, and it’s not your job to check who already had a donut,” one person said.

Another wrote, “She sounds childish. Firstly, it’s just embarrassing to act like this over a donut. And secondly, if she is really that upset over not getting a donut, then she should ask Hubert why he ate [hers] instead of directing [her anger] towards you. Ridiculous behavior from your work sister.”

Someone else added, “NTA. Is your coworker a 5-year-old?”

The OP shared a follow-up after reading the comments.

“I wanna thank everyone for the support,” she said. “I completely agree it’s childish. The only reason I gave it any bit of second thought is because she had someone backing her up. […] I’m thinking I shouldn’t have second-guessed myself.”
