Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother, Janice Combs, has submitted a heartfelt letter in support of her son to the federal judge overseeing his upcoming sentencing.
Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but was acquitted of more severe charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, following a high-profile federal trial.
The Bad Boy Records founder has been in custody in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024 and is scheduled to be sentenced in October, potentially facing several more years behind bars.
Janice Combs’ letter was filed with Judge Arun Subramanian as part of a broader sentencing memorandum prepared by Combs’ legal team.
In her letter, Janice acknowledged that her son “has made some terrible mistakes in his life, which I know he recognizes.” She also detailed the hardships he faced from a young age, including the death of his father when Combs was just 2 years old and the loss of his uncle at age 9.
Despite these challenges, she noted, Combs worked diligently to support her and, later, his own children.
“On December 21, I will be 85 years old,” Janice wrote. “This separation for the past year while Sean has been incarcerated has been excruciatingly difficult and painful for me and his children. I would like to spend the last few years of my life with my son, Sean.”
The sentencing memorandum included dozens of letters on Combs’ behalf, including letters from his children. His attorneys are requesting that Subramanian impose a sentence of no more than 14 months, roughly equivalent to the time Combs has already spent at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
