Donald Trump’s eulogy for Charlie Kirk highlighted the conservative activist’s reported final words to him.
Speaking at the public memorial service on Sunday, Sept. 21, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, President Trump reflected on one of his last conversations with Kirk, claiming the Turning Point USA founder urged him to take action.
“Please, sir, save Chicago,” Trump recalled Kirk saying, noting his connection to the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights, Illinois.
“We’re gonna do that, we’re gonna save Chicago from horrible crime,” Trump continued, pointing to his willingness to deploy the National Guard into cities facing violence, as he previously did in Washington, D.C.
Later in his remarks, Trump said, “I’m so proud of Washington, D.C., and now we’re going into Memphis, and we’ll get that one straightened out fast. And then we’re going into some others, but we’re going to go do Chicago, and we’re going to have Charlie very much in mind when we go into Chicago, and we’ll get that one straight.”

The president also shifted to health policy, telling attendees that his administration is preparing to unveil an “answer” for autism during an announcement on Monday, Sept. 22.
“I think we found an answer to autism,” he said, calling it a breakthrough that “won’t let it happen anymore” and predicting it would be “one of the biggest announcements, medically, in the history of our country.”
According to The Washington Post, Trump’s administration is expected to link autism to Tylenol use during pregnancy, despite more than a decade of research showing no proven connection.
Trump also paid tribute to Kirk personally, calling him “a giant of his generation” and adding, “I know I speak for everyone here today when I say that none of us will ever forget Charlie.”
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while moderating one of his signature campus debates at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10. Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, violent offense in the presence of a child, and multiple counts of obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
Trump first shared the news of Kirk’s death on Truth Social, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”
Kirk had built a national profile as the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, author of several books, and host of The Charlie Kirk Show. A father of two, he became one of Trump’s closest political allies, even speaking at Trump’s inauguration in January.

During a press conference in the U.K. on Sept. 18, Trump recalled encouraging the young activist to pursue higher office. “I told him, ‘Charlie, you have a good shot someday at being president,’” Trump said.
Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, spoke publicly on Sept. 12, reflecting on her late husband’s ambitions. “He told me, if he ever did run for office, that his top priority would be to revive the American family,” she said.
That same day, Trump was asked on Fox & Friends about the political climate following Kirk’s death. His response was blunt: “I couldn’t care less,” he told co-host Ainsley Earhardt when asked how to “fix this country” and “come back together.”
