When she was 13, a Tennessee girl fled an abusive home — not knowing that one of the officers who searched for her would one day become the love of her life. Now 28, Roshin Ali, known on social media as Roro Nicole, is going viral for sharing her remarkable story.
Ali and her fiancé, Tyler Schrupp, 38, both serve as patrol officers with the Jackson Police Department. They met in 2023, years after Schrupp had joined the search to find her when she was a missing teen. The couple now share a 5-month-old son, Stetson, and Schrupp is helping raise Ali’s two older boys, Dawson (8) and Brantley (7), from a previous relationship.
“We’ve built this beautiful connection,” Ali says.

Escaping Abuse
Ali recalls having no happy memories of her childhood. At 13, she and her brother ran away from their father after years of abuse. On July 27, 2010, their father returned home angry after losing money gambling and discovered his children playing outside — something forbidden.
As soon as he entered, Ali and her siblings ran to hide in a bedroom. Her sister tried to block the door while their father shouted for their mother to bring a knife. Ali remembers him attempting to stab through the door. When he finally forced his way in, he dragged her sister out, beat her with heels, bound her legs, and gagged her with duct tape.
Their mother then warned the remaining children, “Y’all are going to be next.” That’s when Ali and her brother jumped out of a window and ran for help.
By the next day, their father had been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Court documents confirmed that two officers witnessed visible bruises on Ali’s sister’s face.

From Runaway to Survivor
Initially, the children were listed as runaways. Schrupp, then a responding officer, remembered the alert: “All I knew was that we had two runaways in the area we needed to locate.”
That night, Ali and her brother slept in a park. The next morning, they went with a friend’s family to church, where other officers found them. Their parents were soon taken into custody, and the children were placed in foster care.
Ali and her sister stayed together in one home, while her brothers were sent elsewhere. Later, Ali says she was sexually assaulted by a friend of her father’s in another placement. Despite reporting the abuse, she claims no action was taken.
Rebuilding Her Life
Ali remained in foster care until 18, eventually giving birth to her two sons. She became a correctional officer and later joined the Jackson Police Department in May 2023.
That’s when Schrupp saw her for the first time. “You were nervous, but you were staring at me pretty hard,” Ali teases. They began talking daily and quickly bonded.
Their friendship deepened as Ali shared her past — and that’s when Schrupp realized he had once been part of the team searching for her in 2010.
“I was on that search,” he told her.
Ali says the discovery melted her heart. “It was surprising, but I thought it was so cute.”

A Full-Circle Love Story
Nearly a year into their relationship, Schrupp proposed during a family vacation in August 2024. He asked Ali’s sons to help by pretending to search for a seashell on the beach. When she turned around, he was on one knee holding the real engagement ring.
“I cried. I lost it,” Ali recalls. “I finally get to marry the man of my dreams.”
Their destination wedding is set for October 2026. Ali says she’s endlessly grateful for the life she’s built with Schrupp — the same man who once searched to protect her.
Reflecting on that July day in 2010, she told her fiancé,
“You were my hero.”
