A Texas woman’s Halloween night took an unexpected turn when a precious symbol of love slipped away during trick-or-treat festivities.

Keatlynn Barrera shared in a Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 31, that she lost her engagement ring while passing out candy to children in her Pleasanton neighborhood.

“My engagement ring from my wedding set slipped off my finger in the mess of handing out candy,” she wrote. “Devastated doesn’t begin to describe it, but I am praying that there are good people out there to return it! 😭.”

“This is the ring my husband proposed to me with and has been on my finger for 7 years. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!” she added.

Barrera urged neighbors to check their children’s candy buckets, car seats, and anywhere else sweets may have been dumped out. She also offered a cash reward for anyone who found and returned the sentimental piece.

“Check your candy, check your car if your kids dumped it out in there — just check anywhere,” she told local outlet KVUE-TV.

She explained that she had been handing out candy when the ring disappeared. Because it was a cold evening, she didn’t feel it slip off her finger.

Realizing the ring was gone, she and her family scoured the area around their home and up and down the street but found nothing.

“We start looking around the ground everywhere… and I realized it was gone,” she recalled to the outlet. “Something in my gut told me, no — it was gone.”

Barrera filed a police report after checking nearby pawn shops, who advised her to report the loss before they could assist. By sharing her story, she hopes that someone who comes across the ring will return it.

“I’m just hoping that someone has it, and in the goodness of their heart, will return it,” Barrera said. “It’s very sentimental, and I’m just heartbroken without it.”

Her Facebook post quickly drew attention, with many community members offering support and sharing prayers. One commenter wrote, “I am so sorry. Hopefully you are able to get it back.” Another added, “We checked ours — nothing in there! Hopefully you find it.”
