Joe Scarborough, co-host of MS NOW’s Morning Joe, let an expletive slip during a heated on-air critique of House Speaker Mike Johnson on Friday.

The moment, captured around 6:18 a.m. on Nov. 21 and noted by The Daily Beast, came as Scarborough condemned Johnson and other Republicans for backing President Donald Trump’s recent Truth Social posts. In those posts, Trump labeled a group of Democratic lawmakers “traitors” and suggested they should be “put on trial” after they shared a video urging members of the military and intelligence community to refuse any illegal presidential orders.

After airing footage of Johnson defending Trump, Scarborough responded sharply, saying Johnson “lies so pretty,” adding that it seemed effortless for him to do so. He then launched into a sarcastic imitation of Johnson’s posture toward the press, describing the speaker as overly delicate and performative in the face of scrutiny.

Scarborough’s rant escalated when he accused Johnson and others of dishonesty, saying they were “lying through their f— teeth — these people are lying through their teeth.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski immediately tried to downplay the slip, saying, “He didn’t say it. It was just half.” Scarborough later returned to his main point, arguing that Johnson understood the lawmakers’ message was about service members honoring their oath and refusing unlawful actions.

The video that Trump criticized features Sens. Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, along with Reps. Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, Chrissy Houlahan, and Jason Crow — all of whom have backgrounds in the military or intelligence services.

During the segment, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also weighed in, telling reporters the video “could inspire chaos and it could incite violence.”

Johnson, speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill Thursday, defended Trump’s language as a warning about sedition. He said Trump was “defining the crime of sedition,” then argued that the lawmakers’ video was “wildly inappropriate,” claiming it encouraged troops to disobey orders.

“I mean, think of what a threat that is to our national security and what it means to our institutions,” Johnson said. “We have got to raise the bar in Congress. This is out of control and wildly inappropriate.”
