Two people were killed and another remains in critical condition after a shooting at a restaurant in Aurora, Illinois.

Aurora police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at Two Brothers Roundhouse around 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, according to a statement from the Aurora Police Department (APD). Officers arriving at the scene found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims — believed to be the shooter — was pronounced dead at the restaurant. A man and a woman were taken to a nearby hospital; the woman later died, and the man is listed in critical condition, APD said.

Investigators believe all three people knew one another and that the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence–related situation. Autopsies for the two people who died will be handled by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, which will confirm identities and release names at a later date.

“Our hearts are heavy tonight. Members of our community were senselessly shot while simply trying to enjoy a night out, and our entire city feels the weight of that violence,” Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas said in the department’s release. “On behalf of the Aurora Police Department, I want the victims and their families to know we are standing with you and doing everything we can to make sure you have answers.”

Witnesses told CBS News the shots were fired while the band Beyond the Blonde was performing. People inside the restaurant began running as the gunfire erupted, the outlet reported.

Beyond the Blonde addressed the incident in a Facebook statement on Nov. 23, saying they were still trying to process what happened.

“Last night was terrifying, sad, and absolutely shocking. The shooting at Two Brothers has left us shaken to our core. Our hearts are with the families and friends of those lost to such senseless violence. No one should ever have to experience that kind of fear or heartbreak,” the band wrote.

They added, “We’re still processing so many emotions — disbelief, sadness, gratitude for safety, and deep compassion for everyone affected. Hold your loved ones close today.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the APD Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500.
