A body matching the description of missing woman Rebecca Kay Park was discovered on Tuesday, Nov. 25, according to a spokesperson for the Michigan State Police.
Park, 22, had not been seen since just before midnight on Nov. 3. A large-scale search had been underway to find her, with family members appearing on local news outlets to ask the public for help.
The search carried added urgency because Park was 38 weeks pregnant when she disappeared.
Among the relatives publicly pleading for assistance were her fiancé, Richard Falor, and her younger sister, Kimberly. In an interview with WWTV, Falor suggested that on the day Park vanished, an unknown person picked her up from her mother’s home and drove her away.
Shortly after the discovery of the body, Falor, 43, was booked into custody at the Wexford County Jail at 7:30 p.m. EST, according to custody records. A few hours later, shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 21-year-old Kimberly Park was booked into the same facility.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the reasons for either arrest, and it remains unclear whether they are connected to Rebecca Park’s disappearance or death. No charges are currently listed for Falor or Kimberly.
Park’s phone had previously been found near her mother’s house. Her body was later located in Manistee National Forest, according to the Michigan State Police.
Officials have declined to say whether the remains of a newborn were also discovered or whether the victim was or had been pregnant at the time the body was found.
Park had been due to give birth on Nov. 18.
The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office has declined to comment further, citing the pending autopsy.
