Love was in the air this week as Venice played host to some of the world’s most high-profile couples.
Bill Gates and his partner Paula Hurd were spotted hand-in-hand at the star-studded pre-wedding celebration for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The couple arrived together at an exclusive welcome party held at a historic cloister beside the iconic Madonna dell’Orto church.
Gates kept his look classic in a black suit and white shirt, while Hurd exuded elegance in a black off-the-shoulder dress, paired with a shimmering necklace and simple stud earrings. The two looked at ease as they mingled among a crowd of A-list celebrities.
Also in attendance were Tom Brady, Orlando Bloom, Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, and Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner, along with Gayle King—making it a truly star-packed affair.
From Amalfi to Venice: A Relationship in the Spotlight
Gates and Hurd have previously been seen at Bezos and Sánchez’s engagement party in August 2023, which took place aboard Bezos’ luxury yacht off the Amalfi Coast.
The couple’s relationship first became public in February 2023, nearly two years after Gates finalized his divorce from Melinda French Gates following 27 years of marriage.
A source previously told People magazine, “It’s widely known that Bill Gates and Paula Hurd are dating, but she hasn’t met his kids yet.”
In April 2024, they made their red carpet debut at the 10th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Los Angeles. And earlier this year, in a February 2025 interview with Today host Savannah Guthrie, Gates confirmed the relationship, saying,
“I’m lucky to have a serious girlfriend named Paula. We’re having fun—going to the Olympics and lots of great things.”
Hurd was also among those Gates thanked in his memoir Source Code: My Beginnings. In the acknowledgments, he wrote:
“Early readers of the manuscript included Paula Hurd, Marc St. John, and Sheila Gulati. The close read from dear and trusted friends provided much-needed thoughtful and insightful feedback at critical stages in the writing.”
