The design of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding invitation has been mocked online for being amateurish and lacking the sophistication expected of a billionaire couple.

As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and former news anchor Lauren Sanchez kick off their wedding celebrations in Venice, their invitation has sparked unexpected criticism online.

A preview of the invitation, obtained by ABC News, has gone viral — not for its exclusivity, but for its design. The couple, who have been together for six years, are set to marry in a multi-day celebration, with the main ceremony reportedly taking place on Friday, June 27, on the scenic island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

However, the design of the wedding invitation — a whimsical collage of butterflies, birds, feathers, and shooting stars in pastel pinks and blues against a white backdrop — has drawn mockery on social media. Critics have called it “atrocious” and “tacky,” with many users expressing surprise at the aesthetic given Bezos’s billionaire status.

Despite the visual backlash, the content of the invitation struck a more thoughtful note. The card included a clear message asking guests not to bring gifts, stating:
“We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts.”

Instead, the couple announced that charitable donations would be made on behalf of attendees. The invite detailed contributions to three organizations: the UNESCO Venice Office to help preserve the city’s cultural heritage, CORILA for lagoon habitat restoration, and to Venice itself.

“This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories,” the invitation read. “Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come.”

While many praised the sentiment, the invitation’s artistic execution quickly became meme material.

“Was the invitation made in Microsoft Paint?” one X (formerly Twitter) user quipped.

Another added, “That invite is atrocious. Obviously, money can’t buy taste or class.”

More critical takes followed:
“With all the money he has, they could have at least done something pretty and classy.”
“This invitation looks like an 11-year-old made it,” someone else commented.

Regardless of the backlash, excitement remains high for the celebrity couple’s extravagant celebration. Initial reports placed the festivities between June 24 and 26, but newer updates suggest a slightly later timeline. Italian authorities have confirmed the ceremony will take place in late June.

The event is expected to span three days, with Bezos’s $500 million superyacht Koru docked in Venice and likely serving as a key location for the festivities.
