The woman who previously served prison time after livestreaming a deadly crash that killed her younger sister near Los Banos in 2017 has been shot and killed in Stockton, California, authorities say.
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Obdulia Sanchez was fatally shot in a drive-by attack around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
A second person was also injured in the shooting and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made, and investigators are asking anyone with information to call the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 209-468-4400.
Sanchez first drew national attention in 2017, when she was driving near Los Banos with her 14-year-old sister and her sister’s friend. The car veered off the road, overturned, and both passengers were ejected. The crash — including graphic footage of her sister’s body — was captured on a livestream.
She was later sentenced to six years in prison on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and child endangerment but ultimately served less than half that time before being released on parole.
In 2019, Sanchez was arrested again after allegedly leading officers on a high-speed chase and being found with a loaded gun.
