As she wraps up a wildly successful year, Pamela Anderson is finally opening up about what really went on between her and Liam Neeson, her costar in the summer blockbuster The Naked Gun.

Their surprise romance sparked a mix of excitement and side-eye from the public, but Anderson, 58, is now sharing her version of events from their private relationship for the first time.

“If you must know, Liam and I were romantically involved for a short while, but only after we finished filming,” she explains. The two spent what she calls an “intimate week” together at his home in upstate New York. “I had my own room,” she adds. “Our assistants both came; even family stopped by.”

They went out to dinner at a small French restaurant where, she recalls, Neeson introduced her as “the future Mrs. Neeson.” Back at his place, they spent time in the garden. Anderson remembers tending to “a rosebush overgrown with mint,” saying she was glad to help — and that he appreciated it.

After what she describes as their “romantic lost week” — a stretch that included Neeson shooing away a bear from the breakfast window while still in his bathrobe — the pair split off again to focus on separate film projects.

They later reconnected while promoting The Naked Gun over the summer. On red carpets and talk shows, they were seen cuddling, holding hands and joking around. At one point, Anderson even swiped a bit of her Sonsie lip balm onto Neeson’s lips during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live.

“We were having fun,” she says, likening their connection to something out of a Nancy Meyers movie.

“I always was laughing when people thought, ‘Oh, that’s a publicity stunt,’ ” she continues. “I’m like, ‘A publicity stunt? This is real. We have real feelings.’ ”

Still, Anderson is candid about where things stand now. “I adore Liam,” she says, “but we are better friends, in full honesty.”

The last time they saw each other was in August, when Neeson surprised her by showing up to the prestigious Williamstown Theater Festival, where she was starring in Tennessee Williams’ Camino Real.

“He is such a supporter of this new trajectory in my career and kindly tells me he is very proud of me,” Anderson shares. “I’m sure we will always be in each other’s lives.”
