A bride-to-be is turning to the internet in the hope of tracking down her late grandmother’s missing wedding dress.

Alexia Wilborn, a content creator from Las Vegas, has long dreamed of wearing her grandmother’s gown when she walks down the aisle. But after her grandmother died, Wilborn learned that the dress had accidentally been donated to a local Goodwill — and now she’s doing everything she can to find it.

Wilborn was 18 when she first fell in love with the dress. At the time, she didn’t even realize it was a wedding gown. The sleeves had been cut off — Las Vegas heat, she explained to local outlet Fox 5 — so she initially assumed it was simply a beautiful sundress, until she learned the sentimental story behind it.

Recently, she went back to her grandparents’ home to retrieve the dress and discovered it was gone. “The wrong bag had been donated about a month prior” in October, Wilborn told Fox 5.

In a post on Instagram, she explained that she believes the gown was dropped off at the Goodwill on Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road in Las Vegas, and she has already submitted an accidental donation report with the store.

“However, since so much time had passed the chances of it already being purchased are high,” she wrote in the caption.

According to Wilborn, the dress is quite small — it was tailored for her 4’10” grandmother and fits roughly a US size 0 or 2. It was originally bought in the 1980s for about $80, she added.

“The dress itself is not worth much but its value to our family is immeasurable,” she wrote. “Getting the dress back at this point may seem impossible, but with God, all things are possible.”

Wilborn and her husband, Troy, first crossed paths in 2020 while line dancing, she told Fox 5. They had hoped to hold a traditional wedding, but the COVID-19 pandemic made a large gathering difficult and risky, so they opted for a simple courthouse ceremony instead.

Even after their civil wedding, the couple held onto the dream of a big celebration with loved ones, the outlet reported. They went on to welcome multiple children, which pushed their plans for a formal event further down the road. Now, they’ve set a date for 2027 — and Wilborn is hoping the cherished gown will be part of that day.

“I feel like that’s enough time to hopefully find it,” she said.
