Jenny McCarthy says support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. runs deeper in Hollywood than many people assume.

On the Dec. 11 episode of the Culture Apothecary with Alex Clark podcast, the 53-year-old actress and TV personality talked about her longtime friendship with Kennedy and her involvement in his health advocacy. McCarthy said she has been “marching with Bobby since Evan was 2 years old,” referring to her son Evan, now 23, whom she shares with ex-husband John Asher. Evan was diagnosed with autism in 2005.

During the conversation, McCarthy said the entertainment industry is “secretly very supportive” of Kennedy’s Make America Healthy Again movement. Asked whether people in Hollywood privately back the effort, she answered that many do — but prefer not to speak publicly.

McCarthy said she still hears from parents seeking guidance, including well-known figures who contact her privately because they don’t want attention on their family lives. She suggested fear of backlash keeps many from sharing their views openly, adding that her own experience has made others wary of becoming targets. “And I honor that, because they saw what happened to me,” she said.

McCarthy and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, publicly endorsed Kennedy during his presidential bid ahead of the 2024 election, calling him a “dear friend” in a video posted to his Instagram. Kennedy later dropped out of the race in August 2024 and endorsed President Donald Trump. He has since been named secretary of health and human services.

Since his confirmation in the spring, Kennedy has made various unfounded claims about autism, including suggesting boys who are “circumcised early” have “double the rate of autism.” He also launched a national autism registry, as National Institutes of Health director Jay Bhattacharya confirmed that the NIH would provide Kennedy with data pulled from a number of federal and commercial databases, CBS News reported at the time.
