Former Prince Andrew appears to have used Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate for at least one Jeffrey Epstein-related encounter, according to a newly released photograph.

A black-and-white image posted by the Department of Justice (DOJ) shows Andrew, 65, lying across the laps of several women whose identities have been redacted. The photo was reportedly taken in the saloon at Sandringham, per The Times, and also includes convicted Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Sandringham is a well-known private royal residence where the family traditionally spends Christmas and New Year’s — a routine long associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The photograph is among thousands of records from Epstein’s estate that were uploaded to the DOJ website on Friday, Dec. 19. The release may add new context to Andrew’s long-scrutinized association with Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while facing federal sex trafficking charges.

In October, Andrew was stripped of all remaining royal titles, including the use of “prince,” amid multiple scandals — most notably those connected to his relationship with Epstein.

In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor. By that time, his friendship with Andrew was already widely documented, including photos of the two together at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Andrew’s legal troubles deepened in 2015 when Virginia Giuffre named him in a lawsuit connected to Epstein. Giuffre alleged she was trafficked to Andrew when she was 17 and had three sexual encounters with him. Andrew has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.

Andrew stepped back from public duties as a working royal in November 2019 after a widely criticized BBC Newsnight interview addressing his alleged ties to Epstein.

In January 2022, Queen Elizabeth removed his military titles and patronages after he sought to have Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit dismissed. The following month, he reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre for an undisclosed sum.

Giuffre died by suicide on April 24, 2025. She was 41.

Renewed attention on Andrew has continued following the publication of Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, in which she wrote that Andrew “believed having sex with me was his birthright.”
