Trump Ally Laura Loomer Says Democrats ‘Were Right’

Laura Loomer, a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, said Tuesday that Democrats may have been correct in some cases when they labeled parts of the conservative movement as Nazi-adjacent.

Why It Matters

Loomer’s comments land amid an ongoing dispute inside conservative circles over where the Republican Party is headed—and what it should tolerate in its broader coalition. In recent posts, she has argued that the right must draw firmer lines against open racism and antisemitism, warning that ignoring extremist factions could carry political consequences. The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) warned earlier this year of an “explosion” in active chapters of neo-Nazi Active Clubs in the U.S. and abroad.

What to Know

Loomer raised alarms about extremist elements on the right in a series of posts on X.

“Maybe some of those Democrats were right when they called some people on the so called right Nazis. It’s kind of undeniable at this point that we do have a neo-Nazi problem on the right,” she wrote.

In a separate post, she added: “Good morning to everyone who isn’t naive to the fact that the GOP has a Neo Nazi and Jihadi sympathizer problem.”

Her remarks follow a weekend of public infighting among prominent conservative influencers at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, where disputes over Israel and antisemitism took center stage. Loomer has used social media in recent days to sharpen her criticisms of parts of the conservative movement, calling for what she described as “moral clarity.”

In a post Monday evening, she wrote that it is not acceptable “to brainwash American youth into hating Jewish people and Christian Zionists.”

“I’m not going to turn a blind eye to a digital Pogrom that is quickly turning into real world physical violence and death. I don’t care about being kept out of the ‘club,’” she wrote. “We need to have people who stand on principles with moral clarity.”

She also accused Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host who has criticized Israel, of “trying to have a hostile takeover of the GOP to destroy MAGA & redefine the GOP into modern day Hitler youth with a drizzle of Sharia Law on top.”

Newsweek emailed Carlson’s team for comment.

What People Are Saying

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro criticized some voices on the right during a speech at the Turning Point USA event: “These people are frauds, and they are grifters, and they do not deserve your time.”

Tucker Carlson said during AmericaFest: “Is it ‘America First’ to take money from a foreign lobby so you’ll send taxpayer dollars to that country? Even the question kind of answers itself, obviously it isn’t. That’s not an attack on Israel; it’s certainly not antisemitism, despite the efforts of many to claim that it is. It’s just an obvious statement.”

Loomer wrote on X on December 21: “The GOP has a serious issue and yes, it does need to be addressed by the party. Ignoring this isn’t going to help. We need to have standards or we won’t be any different than the left.”

What Happens Next

The party’s internal divides show no sign of easing, and Loomer’s comments suggest the fight over standards—and who gets included under the conservative banner—will remain a flashpoint as the GOP looks ahead to 2026 and beyond.
