Mary Trump, niece of President Donald Trump, sharply criticized conservative attacks on Zohran Mamdani—the winner of New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary—calling the rhetoric “extraordinarily dangerous” during an appearance Friday on SiriusXM’s The Dean Obeidallah Show.

“This isn’t going to stop here—it’s going to get worse,” she warned, responding to inflammatory comments from her uncle and others targeting Mamdani, who would become NYC’s first Muslim mayor if elected.

President Trump derided Mamdani, a democratic socialist, as a “100% Communist Lunatic” on Wednesday. The candidate fired back, saying, “This isn’t the first time President Trump has commented on me, and I encourage him—like every New Yorker—to learn about my actual policies to make the city affordable.”

Some right-wing figures have gone even further, invoking Islamophobic rhetoric. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) called for Mamdani, a U.S. citizen since 2018, to be denaturalized and deported. Donald Trump Jr., along with conservative personalities Charlie Kirk and Laura Loomer, attempted to link Mamdani’s primary win to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Mary Trump, a New York City resident, condemned the backlash as “anti-Muslim bigotry.”

Mamdani has publicly acknowledged facing violent threats throughout his campaign. In early June, the NYPD investigated a car bomb threat targeting him, and his campaign hired private security during the final stretch of the primary due to the spike in threats.
