President Donald Trump made headlines this weekend for returning to one of his favorite pastimes: golf.
Despite previously criticizing former presidents for spending time on the golf course, Trump, 79, has logged significant time on the links since taking office in January. This weekend was no exception, as he spent part of the pre–Fourth of July weekend golfing at his club in Northern Virginia.
According to reports, Trump was joined by several high-profile allies, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Republican Senators Eric Schmitt (MO), Rand Paul (KY), and Lindsey Graham (SC). The group teed off just hours before the Senate was scheduled to vote on Trump’s sweeping legislative package, known as the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
While the Senate deliberated, Trump and his allies played a full round of golf, drawing both attention and criticism for the timing.
Sen. Lindsey Graham shared a lighthearted post from the outing on social media, writing, “Proud to announce no casualties. A lot of fun! Big Beautiful Bill on the way.”
Trump has since returned to the White House, but the weekend outing has reignited conversation about his frequent golf trips — a topic that’s drawn scrutiny given his past remarks condemning presidential golf outings.
With summer now in full swing, observers are keeping an eye on just how often President Trump returns to the course in the months ahead.
