Two people were found dead at a Los Angeles residence connected to filmmaker Rob Reiner, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said it was called to the home at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, Dec. 14, to provide medical aid. When crews arrived, they found a man and a woman dead at the scene.

TMZ reported that the deaths are being investigated as an apparent homicide and said the victims suffered injuries consistent with a knife attack. Authorities have not publicly confirmed those details.

Officials have not released additional information as the investigation continues. The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Dec. 14, and a representative for Reiner also did not respond.

Reiner is a director, producer, and actor known for helming films including This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).

He first rose to fame on All in the Family, playing Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom, a role that earned him two Emmy Awards. His other acting credits include Sleepless in Seattle (1993), Bullets Over Broadway (1994), The First Wives Club (1996), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

Reiner met Michele Singer Reiner while directing When Harry Met Sally, and the two married in 1989. They share three children: sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. He was previously married to the late Penny Marshall, who died in 2018 at age 75. They divorced after a decade of marriage, and Reiner adopted Marshall’s daughter, Tracy Reiner, from Marshall’s marriage to Michael Henry.
