A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two people outside a Food Lion in Kernersville, North Carolina, on Friday evening.
According to a statement from the Kernersville Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Food Lion on South Main Street around 7:12 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
On Saturday, 39-year-old Lee Donnell Smith Jr. was arrested by Kernersville police with assistance from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.
Smith is facing multiple charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm from within an enclosure with the intent to harm or cause fear, and two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
He is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
