A woman in England has been charged with murder in connection with the death of her 4-year-old daughter following a house fire in Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said in a news release on Tuesday, Jan. 6, that Carrin Wibier, 45, of Rusholme, had been “charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life” after the death of Lesma-Rose Wibier, 4. Police said the child died after emergency services were called to a home in the city on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

GMP confirmed in an email that Lesma-Rose was Wibier’s daughter.
According to the BBC, Wibier made a brief appearance at Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Jan. 7, via video link from custody. The outlet reported she is being held until Thursday, Jan. 8, when she is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. local time on Thursday.

In an earlier police statement, Lesma-Rose’s family shared a tribute describing her as “the star of the family,” adding that those who knew her remembered her as “the most beautiful girl inside and out.”
“She always had a smile on her face and could put the same on others,” the family said. “She was such a smart and intelligent girl in her own unique ways, and she will be deeply missed by anyone who was blessed to meet her.”
