Authorities in Pennsylvania say the body of a missing woman was discovered stuffed inside a large metal box on property formerly owned by her husband—who now faces homicide charges.
Vincent Harp, 37, was arrested Sunday and charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and evidence tampering after police located the remains of his 33-year-old wife, Katlyn Harp, in a green metal box emitting a strong odor of decomposition. The box was found on a property in Montour Township once owned by Harp.
Katlyn had been reported missing on June 20 after her sister contacted authorities, saying it was unlike her to go silent. That same day, her Life360 tracking app stopped updating.
Vincent Harp initially told investigators that the couple had argued on the evening of June 19, and when he woke the next morning, Katlyn was gone. But over the course of the investigation, police say his timeline and explanations shifted repeatedly.
Suspicious Behavior and Phone Data
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, Harp was spotted on surveillance video at a gas station on June 20 asking if the store sold gloves. When the cashier said no, Harp asked an employee for a pair. After receiving them, he was seen leaving in his silver Chevy Silverado, with the gloves in his pocket.
Police later used cellphone tracking to follow Harp’s movements. Records showed he had driven several vehicles, including a GMC Yukon, to various remote locations. One such area was a mountain road where he became stuck in the mud, leaving visible drag marks into nearby woods. When asked why he was there, Harp had no explanation.
Later that day, surveillance cameras captured Harp’s Silverado again—this time with a large green metal box clearly visible in the truck bed.
On June 25, a utility vehicle (ATV) that Harp had sold the day prior was turned over to police. A forensic test found traces of human blood on the vehicle.
Body Found, Husband Arrested
On Sunday, the search for Katlyn Harp led police to the Harp Lane property, with permission from the current owners. There, they discovered the same green metal box seen in the truck surveillance footage. Inside were human remains and a distinctive tattoo confirming the body was Katlyn’s.
Further analysis of Harp’s phone placed him at the exact location of the body on June 21 around 10:30 a.m., and again near the area at 6 p.m. that evening.
Vincent Harp was arrested Sunday, arraigned at 7 p.m., and denied bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 14.
