While covering the death of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis after an ICE officer shot and killed her, Fox News host Jesse Watters opened his segment by emphasizing Good’s and her pronouns listed online.
During a Wednesday, Jan. 7, segment, Watters described Good largely through her relationships and social media presence.
“The woman who lost her life was a self-proclaimed poet from Colorado with pronouns in her bio. A 37-year-old White woman named Renee Good,” he said. “The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage.”
He added, “She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer. But there’s no evidence she had a law degree.”
Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent on Wednesday during an immigration enforcement operation. ICE recently began large-scale raids in Minneapolis as President Donald Trump and his administration continue to vilify Somali immigrants living in the area.
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, confirmed her daughter’s death to The Minnesota Star Tribune, but rejected claims that Good was involved in anything resembling a coordinated anti-ICE effort.
“She was probably terrified,” Ganger told the outlet, calling her daughter “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”

“She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being,” Ganger added.
City Council Member Jason Chavez said the 37-year-old mother was a U.S. citizen and “an observer … watching out for our immigrant neighbors,” ABC News reported.
Good suffered gunshot wounds to the head, ABC News reported, citing city officials. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the outlet.
The Star Tribune reported that Good was previously married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died at age 36 in 2023. His father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., told the outlet he was stunned by the news and said his son and Good shared a 6-year-old child who has now lost both parents.
“There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin Sr. said of his grandson. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
According to The Associated Press, Good’s 6-year-old was from her second marriage; AP reported that she was also a mom to two older children, ages 12 and 15, from her first marriage.
After Good’s death, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been “stalking and impeding” ICE agents and accused her of “domestic terrorism.”
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin also alleged in a statement that the driver had “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.”
McLaughlin said the ICE agent who shot Good was “fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public.”
Trump, 79, blamed the left for the incident in a Truth Social post, saying video showed Good was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” and claiming she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”
He added, “The reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”
On social media, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz responded to the Trump administration’s claims by retweeting a DHS statement and writing, “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine. The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday demanded that ICE leave the city.
“We’ve dreaded this moment since the early stages of this ICE presence in Minneapolis,” Frey said at a press conference on Wednesday. “This was a federal agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.”
He then warned ICE, “Get the f— out of Minneapolis,” adding, “We do not want you here. Your stated purpose for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, but you are doing exactly the opposite.”
