A Massachusetts man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his mother’s longtime boyfriend to death during a heated argument—reportedly sparked by a disagreement over steaks.

Andrew Horsman, 41, was arrested Sunday night after police responded to multiple 911 calls about a violent altercation at a home in Middleborough. Officers arrived around 8 p.m. to find 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive, according to Middleborough police.

Authorities say Horsman and Pomerleau—who had reportedly feuded for years—got into a fight just before the stabbing. During Horsman’s arraignment, prosecutors revealed the dispute escalated over steaks.

Witnesses told police they saw the argument unfold, and investigators confirmed that tensions between the two men had been building for some time.

Pomerleau had been in a long-term relationship with Horsman’s mother. Speaking to local media, neighbor Jeff Burr recalled knowing Pomerleau for three decades. “He was like a gentle giant,” Burr said. “A great guy. He’d give you the shirt off his back.”

Pomerleau’s family also released a statement through WCVB, describing him as a devoted father and grandfather: “My dad was a deeply loving father. He had a way of making everyone feel like family and was endlessly dedicated to his kids and grandchildren.”

Horsman was identified at the scene and taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court on a murder charge filed by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
