Amber Leffew has a simple parenting strategy that’s getting a lot of attention online: set up frequent-flyer accounts for your children while they’re still young.
In a TikTok video that’s since gone viral, the mom of three shared a photo of herself boarding a plane with one of her kids. In the shot, Leffew smiles as she carries her 10-month-old son, Lou, in a chest carrier while holding a drink.
“As a cyber wife, please create an email account for your children and create SkyMiles accounts for them so they can accumulate miles every trip,” she wrote over the image.
Leffew later expanded on the idea in her caption, explaining that the long-term payoff could be huge. She said that by the time her children are adults, they could have enough miles saved up to travel wherever they want.
“By the time they are 18, they’ll have enough miles to go anywhere!!” she wrote. “Best senior trip ever loading!!”
According to Leffew, she and her husband decided to start Delta SkyMiles accounts for their kids after realizing how much value frequent-flyer programs could offer over time. The idea originally came from her husband’s regular work travel, which exposed them to how quickly miles can add up.
As they began planning more leisure trips, they wondered whether their kids could earn miles too. After looking into it, they found the process was simple — and potentially a major advantage for their children down the road.
So far, Leffew says her kids — all under age 7 — have accumulated more than 25,000 miles combined, a milestone she says the family is proud of.

Since the video took off, she’s enjoyed watching other parents discover the concept and ask questions about how to do it themselves.
She says the response online has been overwhelmingly positive, with the post drawing over 1.2 million views and plenty of follow-up questions. Leffew adds that she’s been happy to share what she’s learned with other families looking for practical ways to invest in their kids’ future — and that Delta even commented on and liked the video, which she called a highlight.
