Steve Bannon, a prominent figure in the MAGA media ecosystem, urged President Donald Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act in Minnesota, arguing—without evidence—that people in the state “hate white people.”
After Trump suggested he could use the law to deploy troops to Minnesota, Bannon used the opening of his Thursday War Room broadcast to strongly back the move.
“We demand mass deportations,” Bannon said, criticizing what he described as limited enforcement actions in Minnesota. He added that his program has long supported invoking the Insurrection Act and sending in troops to “clean out the mess.”
Bannon then escalated his rhetoric, claiming that what’s happening in Minnesota shows “they hate America” and “hate American citizens,” before adding, “dare I say they hate white people?” He framed the situation as a looming confrontation, saying, “This is where the fight’s going to be. Bring it.”
He closed by repeating his call for immediate action, urging Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act “today” and describing people in the streets as “scum,” while insisting troops should be sent in to restore order.
