Renee Good appeared to still be alive when ICE agents prevented a physician from reaching her after she was shot.

Emergency-response records obtained by The New York Times indicate that when local medics arrived, Good was not breathing but still had an irregular pulse. By the time responders removed her from her vehicle, she no longer had a pulse.

The new details come amid continued scrutiny of bystander video recorded moments after the shooting. In the footage, a man approaches with his hands raised and asks if he can check Good’s pulse.

“Can I go check a pulse?” he says.

“No! Back up!” an ICE agent responds.

“I’m a physician!”

“I don’t care!” the agent replies, before another agent says their own EMS is on the way.

Agents later arrived and performed CPR on Good before transporting her to the hospital, where she died.

It remains unclear whether the brief delay would have changed the outcome. But the records and video raise further questions about why Good was shot and why immediate medical assistance was blocked in the moments that followed.
