‘Deport Melania First’: Petition Demands Trump Apply Immigration Rules to His Own Family

As former President Donald Trump pushes for stricter immigration policies and mass deportations, a growing number of Americans are calling for him to start with his own family.

A MoveOn.org petition titled “Deport Melania, Melania’s Parents, and Barron in the First Round of Deportations!” has gained traction online, demanding that the former first lady, her parents, and her son Barron be deported as part of Trump’s proposed crackdown — which includes targeting naturalized citizens.

“If Trump wants to deport naturalized citizens, then Melania and her parents should be on the first plane out,” the petition reads. “And her ‘anchor baby’ Barron should go too — based on Trump’s own rules. His mother’s mother wasn’t born in the U.S., and that’s one of the criteria Trump wants to enforce. If it’s good for one, it’s good for all. No exceptions.”

The petition, which had over 2,900 signatures of a 3,000 goal at the time of writing, argues the move would expose whether Trump’s immigration policies are truly about national security — or selective enforcement.

“This is about fairness,” the petition continues. “If Trump wants mass deportations, let him start with his own household.”

Scrutiny Over Melania Trump’s Immigration History

Melania Trump, who was born in Slovenia in 1970, came to the U.S. in 1996 to pursue a modeling career. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2006, a decade later. However, her immigration timeline has long been the subject of speculation and scrutiny, particularly over whether she maintained legal status during her early years in the country.

Earlier this year, Congresswoman Maxine Waters reignited the debate, calling for transparency about Melania’s immigration records. Speaking at a Los Angeles rally, Waters said, “We don’t know whether or not her parents were documented. Maybe we better just take a look.”

Melania is the second U.S. first lady to be born outside the country, and the only one to become a naturalized citizen.

Critics have accused the former administration of hypocrisy for targeting immigrant families while reportedly benefiting from so-called “chain migration” themselves — the same process through which Melania’s parents reportedly obtained U.S. citizenship.

As Trump renews calls for aggressive deportation policies, this petition reflects growing backlash — and a demand for accountability from within his own circle.
