President Donald Trump sent an unusual fundraising email to supporters earlier this week, striking a dramatic tone and warning of dire political consequences if donors failed to meet a mid-month deadline.

Trump, 79, emailed supporters just after midnight on Tuesday, Jan. 13, with the subject line, “I’m alone and in the dark,” as seen in the Archive of Political Emails.

Political commentator Harry Sisson posted screenshots of the email on X on Jan. 13, and the post quickly drew widespread attention.

The email opened with: “Some people are saying: This is SAD!”

“I’m sitting here. Alone. In the war room. Fighting for you,” Trump wrote.

“The rest of the staff went home hours ago. It’s just me, one dying laptop, and the 72-hour countdown clock to my first mid-month deadline of the year just RANG.”

Trump went on to claim that the “radical Left” will flip the House and Senate in 2026 if his fundraising goal doesn’t “crush [his] first mid-month deadline of the year.” If that happens, he wrote, Democrats would “open borders forever,” confiscate firearms, and make “your kids brainwashed.”

“And worst of all your favorite President (ME!) might just go through another FAKE impeachment!”

The email also alleged that Democrats are “spending BILLIONS (Dirty Money, I bet) to bury US and bury YOU!,” and said Trump “need[s] a small sacrifice from every red-blooded American who wants to save the country!”

“I’m dead serious: miss this goal and the MAGA Movement crumbles,” the email continued. Trump added that anyone who donated $47 within “the next 30 minutes” would receive a “limited-edition 2026 Trump Calendar,” but argued that the offer was “nothing compared to losing the country.”

A large button beneath the message read: “This is it. No second chances.”

As the email wrapped up, Trump wrote that although “we have been fighting for years,” he fears “the end is near.”

“The woke mind virus is infiltrating more and more Americans every day. This could be our last chance!,” the message concluded. “Do it for America, show them MAGA is strong!”

The email was sent one day before Trump spoke with Reuters on Wednesday, Jan. 14, and suggested that the country should call off its upcoming midterm elections.

“It’s some deep psychological thing, but when you win the presidency, you don’t win the midterms,” Trump said, adding that his second term had started so strongly that “when you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.”

His remarks came amid reports from The Lincoln Project that 18 House races have recently shifted in Democrats’ favor, with control of the Senate also expected to be closely contested.

The day after Trump’s Reuters interview, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt sought to soften the comments, insisting Trump was “joking” about doing away with elections. “He was speaking facetiously,” Leavitt said.

Still, the suggestion of sidelining elections mirrors Trump’s repeated references to a third term, despite the Constitution explicitly barring it. His efforts have also included “TRUMP 2028” hats being sold in the White House gift shop only months into his second term.
