Piers Morgan has suffered a hip fracture and says he’s now recovering in the hospital after a fall in London.
The 60-year-old British broadcaster shared the update in a Jan. 18 Instagram post, writing that the injury happened after he “tripped on a small step” inside a London hotel restaurant.
Explaining what followed, Morgan laid out the chain of events in a numbered list, saying he “fell like a sack of spuds” and “fractured [the] neck of femur” — a break he described as severe enough to require a hip replacement.

He added that he’s currently recovering in the hospital, expects to use crutches for six weeks, and won’t be able to take long-haul flights for 12 weeks. He also joked about the rough start to the year and quipped that he blames Donald Trump — a reference to their long-running, public back-and-forth dating back to the late 2000s, when Morgan appeared on Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.

In the photo Morgan posted from his hospital bed, he appeared connected to medical equipment while giving a thumbs-up.
He also shared an image of an X-ray from after the fall, highlighting the area of the injury.
Morgan’s latest career chapter includes hosting Piers Morgan Uncensored, a YouTube talk show. He recently sparred with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters during the Friday, Jan. 16 episode of the program, continuing his reputation for blunt, confrontational interviews.
