Josh Allen struggled to hold back tears after the Buffalo Bills’ 2025–2026 season came to an end, telling reporters he felt he’d “let” his teammates down following the team’s loss to the Denver Broncos.

After Buffalo was eliminated in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday, Jan. 17, the 29-year-old quarterback became emotional during his postgame press conference.

“It’s extremely difficult,” Allen said, fighting through tears.

“I feel like I let my teammates down tonight,” he added.

Asked what fueled such a strong reaction, Allen pointed to moments he felt slipped away.

“There were missed opportunities throughout the game,” he said. “It’s been a long season. I hate how it ended, and that’s gonna stick with me for a long time.”

Denver sealed the Jan. 17 win in overtime on a 24-yard field goal from kicker Will Lutz.

With the victory, the top-seeded Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship Game, where they will face either the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans on Jan. 25. The opponent will be determined after the Patriots-Texans matchup on Sunday, Jan. 18.

Later in his postgame remarks, Allen was asked what he told teammates in the locker room after the loss. He said he hadn’t said much — but emphasized how much the group meant to him.

“I haven’t been doing a lot of talking,” Allen admitted. “I love my teammates, and I’m extremely sorry, and I’m extremely disappointed in how this ended.”

The 2025–2026 NFL season will conclude with Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8.
